“If your brother sins against you…..”
– Matthew 18:15

“For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
– I Corinthians 5:12-13

Judge the believen, not the heathen.

  1. Make sure it is a sin issue. 
  2. Inspect your own life first.

“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
– Matthew 7:3-5

3. Check your motives.

“with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
– Ephesians 4:2-3

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.”
– Matthew 18:15

“But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.”
– Matthew 18:16

“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church…..”
– Matthew 18:17

“If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”
– Matthew 18:17

“Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses. As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.”
– 1 Timothy 5:19-20
