GENDER

Gender (noun)

1 Either the male or female division of a species, especially as differntiated by social and clutural roles and behavior.

2 A Similar category of human beings that is outside the male/female binary classification and is based on the individual’s awareness or identity.

“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’

27 So God created mankind in His own image,
in the image of God He created them;
male and female He created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’

31 God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”

– Genesis 1:26-28; 31

God created 2 genders so that we need each other and we work together.

QUESTION #1: What if I don’t feel like I was born the right gender?

“13[God] you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”

– Psalm 139:13-14

Gender is more about how we were created to partner with the opposite gender than it is about what things you do or don’t like.

QUESTION #2: I am attracted to my same gender, can I be gay?

“Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”

– Leviticus 18:22

Being confused, or questioning your attractions, is not sinful, but the Bible is clear that acting on those attractions is sinful.

What Do I Do When I Encounter Someone Who Is Confused About Their Gender Or Their Sexuality?

Our job is not to change people, our job is to love people in a way that draws them to Jesus.
