WHAT IS WORSHIP?

Ask A Question About Worship

1. WHAT DOES THE WORD WORSHIP MEAN?

“to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power.”

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

– Colossians 3:16

God Created Us To Be Moved By Music.

2. WHY DO WE START CHURCH WITH SINGING?

Worshiping Through Songs Praises God and Prepares Our Hearts.

Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm!
God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.

– Psalm 47:6-8

3. WHAT IF I’M NOT GOOD AT SINGING, OR I JUST DON’T LIKE TO SING?

There Is Something Powerful For Ourselves When We Say Or Sing These Words Out Loud To God.

God Created Your Voice, so He loves To Hear It.

Sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The Lord has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
He has remembered his love
and his faithfulness to Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;
make music to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,
with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—
shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.

– Psalm 98
