Wilderness | Revelation – Week 3

One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.  Exodus 2:11-12

A LIE BELIEVED AS TRUTH WILL AFFECT YOU AS IF IT WERE TRUE.

Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus 4:10

THE LIE: YOUR WORTH IS BASED ON

  • WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU.
  • YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES.

The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” Exodus 4:11-13

My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind…  Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

OUR IDENTITY WRONGLY COMES FROM:

WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED.

WHAT WE HAVE.

WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT US.

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

  • WHAT WE DO IS A RESULT OF WHO WE ARE.
  • WHAT WE DO DOESN’T DEFINE WHO WE ARE.

LET GOD DEFINE

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:29-30

It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider his vows. Proverbs 20:25

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:13-14

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord JesusColossians 3:17
